Simple updo for Sunday

Hi everyone,

Thank you for starting the week by coming to see my new post!  Today I fixed my hair in a simple style, two sideways French braids with a side bun.  The matching flower adds a little bit of Spanish flair :-)

     Happy Saturday!  Today I wore my favorite new shirt, with polka-dots and daisies.  How fun to remember that I had hair accessories to match!  I made a lace headband braid, then wrapped the end of my braid around my head a second time, directly behind the lace headband.  I braided the length of my hair and made a low braided bun.  A fun hairstyle to go with a fun outfit :-)

Dutch braid updo

Hi everyone,

     Thank you for following my blog!  I love combining braids in different hairstyles.  In this look, I combined two Dutch braids with a center 4-strand braid.  And side buns are always a fun way to show from the front view "I have hair!" rather than most buns which can't be seen until you turn around and leave the room :-)

     This updo reminded me of a French hairstyle from the 1700s, with big waves and a small loose section of hair curled to one side.  And with a variety of hair clips to help hold my hair in place, this look has lasted all day long!

Rope braids and a side bun, my hairstyle today

     I hope you have a great weekend!  Thank you for coming by my blog.  Today I fixed my hair in several accent rope braids, and added a big side bun.  My bun is made from a larger rope braid.

     I've spent the afternoon looking at hairstyle pictures on Facebook, so much inspiration!  How fun to try out new ideas in the days and weeks ahead.

     I love following Cute & Glossy braids on Facebook, and tried to [poorly] imitate the style of her beautiful braids in my hairstyle today.  Any day is a good day for a fancy braided updo :-)

Romantic Mermaid Braid (or cage braid)

Hi everyone,

     Today I tried again the version of a cage braid that I saw demonstrated in an Instagram video.  This method makes the braid so much easier to do on yourself.  First, you divide your hair in two section and bring it forward over both shoulders.  Next you make a Dutch braid underneath your chin, adding hair as you continue the braid straight down.  When you've finished adding all your hair into the braid, you wiggle the braid up and over your head so that the cage braid now hangs down your back.  I had quite a long braid at the bottom of my cage braid, so I pinned the length of my braid up along the center of the cage braid.  The small tassel at the end of my braid is tucked underneath and held in place with a hair clip.
