Holiday Hairstyle Inspiration

Hey! I haven't posted anything a long time ago... sorry about that. But I'm very happy today, because here, it's Christmas! I've spent this day wathching some Christmas movies like 'Home Alone' with my family and of course, eating! And I am so excited, so It seemed nice to post sometnig finaly. So, these are my top three festive, kinda, holiday inspired hairstyles, and I have a tutorial for each one of them! I hope you'll enjoy it! And Merry Christmas to everyone who is celebrating it today just like me!!!

No1: Loosley Curled Chignon

This is a tutorial I found on She Lets Her Hair Down, (actually I found all of these tutorials there) and I really like that blog! It's so inspirational, and you can really find any hair tutorial! I love it, thank you! 

Prep your hair by spraying hair spray all over it and brushing it through twice to have a texture that can easily be molded. You need that "dirty" texture in order for your hair to hold a curl and to achieve a hairstyle like this. 

Separate a section of hair at the top of your head and clip it out of the way.
Curl all of the rest of your hair in whichever direction you'd like. This doesn't need to have a rhyme or reason to it because it is just to give your hair texture. Once it is all curled, separate the curled hair into two equal sections and twist them until you reach your ends. 

Keep twisting them together and overlap the two sections over and over to create a loose bun at the back of your head. Pin the bun in place using strong bobby pins. Don't make it too tight on the sides. Take down the section of hair at the top of your head and curl it all going back and away from your face. Loosely separate the curls with your fingers.

Bring the curled hair at the top of your head back towards your bun and twist the ends so you can pin it into place. Loosely pin the top section towards the back using hair pins. The look should be loose and have a little bit more volume at the top than on the sides. 

No2: Mini Crown Braid

As always, it's best to have slightly dirty hair so your braids stay in place and so you can easily attach pins into your hair. Here are some products you can use to give your hair that "dirty hair" texture.

 Start with a small triangle section on one side of your middle part. Split that small section into three smaller sections. Start a normal three strand braid by taking the section that is closest to your middle part and bringing it under the middle section making it now the middle section. Now take the section closest to your forehead and bring it under the middle section.

You're now going to add hair to your three strand braid by taking a long section from your middle part to where your braid is laying. Add that hair into the section that is closest to your middle part.

Now take that whole section under the middle one making it the new middle. Next, take the section closest to your forehead and bring it under the middle section (you're not adding hair on this side). Now you will repeat steps 4 and 5 until you reach the end of your middle part (about 3 times).

After reaching the end of your middle part, you will continue braiding like normal without adding hair.
Once you absolutely can't braid that hair anymore, you can tie it off with a small elastic band or with a bobby pin.Repeat the same braid on the other side and secure it at the end.

Wrap each braid around your head and pin the ends into the braid on the other side. Hide your pins and the ends of your hair by tucking them under the other braid. It might help to add some hairspray to the spot where you will pin the ends into to make sure the pins and braid stay in place.

No3: Stars Chignon

Don't forgent to get the "dirty" texture, it's essential. You will need strong bobbi pins, hairspray and an  festive accessorie (optional).  

The star bobbi pins are as I said, optional. Here is the original DIY tutorial for the star bobbi pins that she used here, or you can buy also similar bobbi pins on Ebay.

The Perfect Holiday Hair

Here is a little secret technique for perfect holiday hair. I just love it! It looks cute and perfectly undone, and in the same time just enough. All the credits go to A Beautiful Mess, and amazing Katie. Thank you for shairng! You may think that she used a curler on the third picture, but it's actually a piece of thick fabric. It's been folded one or two times. The fabric she used was 4.5x4.5 inches and dubled over.

Start by gathering a section of hair from the top of your head. Tease it to add some textue and volume. Take the piece of fabric (already folded) and warp the hair around it like a curler. Continue rolling the hair untill you reach the scalp. Pin in place. After that, add some random braids just to add a little character.

You can add some hair accessories, just to fill the look. And done!

Happy Independence Day to all of you! Even thought I'm not celebrating it, I seem to like the holiday very much. So, I've found some amazing hair tutorials for this special day. And also wanted to share some very yummy summer treats that I'm about to try today!

First of, here is the Firecracker Ice Pops recipe by Martha Stewart! They look so delicious and sweet!

And here's the list of Independence Day hairstyles that you can try. I've chose the three very simple and cute tutorials. As you can see, everything includes braids. I think they are very appropriate for holidays. First there's the fishtail braid. I really like them and they are easy to make. Second, there's the waterfall braid. And at the end, there's the third one -  one side braid-bun. Sadly, I don't have that hair tutorial in my blog archive, so try something similar here!

How To: Everyday/Holiday Hairstyle

This is a perfect everyday hairstyle, simple but so IN! And no one will know for that secret twisted bun behind the hair. Pretty simple and beautiful though. You can't make a mistake! And it's perfect holiday hairstyle! Those are really hard to find, if you want to have a little bit different hairstyle... 

4th of July Fancy Hair

This was done for the 4th of July but can be used for any holiday all you have to do is change the decorations you use.

I started by making a front poof. 

Then I braided her sides up.  Each side gets french braided up to the middle of her head.

Then pull all the hair into a ponytail

Now make a messy bun. 

Then I found a red white and blue paper weight at the dollar store I pulled them apart and the 2 picture below are the items separated.

I pulled this one into individual strands and started to tie them into her hair. 

The picture below has wire in it and was easy to wrap in and out of her hair. 

Below is the back of her hair.

Right before it got dark we took glow in the dark bracelets and wrapped them through her hair as shown below.

4th of July Firework

I apologize I didn't get this up for the 4th of July things have been busy as most of you experience too!

The state we live in celebrates the 24th of July much like the 4th of July which I forget that other states don't celebrate.  

This style was so simple and she turned out to be the most patriotic hair around our town.

All I did was make a poof then put her hair into pigtails (since she doesn't have much hair this was the easiest)

I went to our local dollar store and found a patriotic paper weight that had the strings below 

and stars attached to a metal wire wrapped in red white and blue. 

I folded the long strands of red white and blue over so they weren't so long and secured them with an elastic.

Right before we went out for the night we wrapped bracelet glow sticks in between each pigtail.  Since the bracelets were much heavier than her hair we added a 3 on across the top of her head.

Heart Rolls

This idea was taken from Angela's cute posts on Facebook. 

Start by making a down the center part.  At the back of the part make a roll going back towards the front of her head.  Continue the roll around towards the ear and back to the center of her head. As shown below.  (I hope this makes sense if not please ask questions.) 

 Do a 2nd roll on the other side of her head.  Attach both rolls with an elastic down low and into a V shape.

More Heart Fun

This was a fun and best of all a really easy hear to make.  So if your in a hurry this is the style.

Start by making a V shaped poof in the front of her head.

Then take a really small amount of hair just below the poof and half of your hair in the poof and secure with an elastic as shown below.

Do the same on the other side.  Then take the ends of the hair and pull them down low an centered and secure with an elastic. 

Toddler Valentines

This is not really a Valentines style but this was the hair and outfit my toddler picked out for school today. 

Today is their Valentines Party.  I was shocked when she said we could do pigtails.  She doesn't know that she has 4 elastics in.  She told me I could do 2.

Her hair was  put into small elastics holding up the bottom of her hair up.  Then those were pulled into pigtails. 

We also put in Valentines Bows to top off the style. 

As you can see from the pictures she is all attitude.

Toddler Single Heart

This is the same as the Single Heart 

We topped hers off by making ringlets with a flat iron. 

Double Heart

This is very similar to the Single Heart  and the steps are very much the same.

With the double heart make to small parts instead of one larger part.  Then pull the hair upward between the elastic.  Do the same steps for the 2nd ponytail.

I once again rolled the hair to make it easier to manage. 

Secure the ends of each ponytail with its own elastic.

Then pull the 2 hearts together and secure with an elastic as shown below.

Single Heart

    This is a fun and simple Valentines hairstyle.

Take a small amount of hair and pull it into a ponytail as shown below.

 Next take and make a part in between the elastic and flip it upwards.

 Then take the hair in the ponytail and split it in 2 pieces.  I rolled each piece just so I had better control.

Then secure the bottom of the 2 pieces of hair with an elastic as shown below.
